Three things insurers don't always tell you.

You choose the shop

North Carolina law lets you pick any repair shop. A "preferred" shop is one that has a pricing agreement with the insurer — it is not a requirement, and it is not a safety rating.

Not-at-fault means no deductible

If the other driver caused the accident, their liability coverage pays for your repair with no deductible. We can bill their insurer directly so you don't front the money.

The first estimate isn't final

Adjusters write from photos. When teardown shows more damage, a supplement covers it. That's normal — and it's our job, not yours, to file it.

Paying out of pocket instead?

Many customers skip the claim to protect their premium or keep a small repair off their record. Same published prices, same lifetime paint warranty, no inflated repair list.

  • Written quote before any work
  • Honest advice on what to fix now vs. later
  • Scheduling around your work or travel

Frame damage and the total-loss question

Structural repair is where claims get expensive and where total-loss decisions happen. Measuring first produces an accurate estimate instead of a worst-case guess.

Insurance questions answered plainly.

Do I have to use the body shop my insurance company recommends?
No. In North Carolina you have the right to choose your own repair shop. The insurer can suggest a "preferred" or "direct repair" shop, but it cannot require one, refuse to pay because you chose your own, or delay your claim over it. Give us the claim number and we take it from there.
Will I pay my deductible?
Your deductible amount is set by your own policy, not by the shop. If the other driver was at fault, their liability coverage typically pays with no deductible from you. If it's your own collision coverage, you pay your policy's deductible and we bill the remainder directly to your insurer, itemized in writing before any work starts.
What is a supplement?
A supplement is a revised estimate sent to the insurer when hidden damage shows up after the car is taken apart — a bent reinforcement bar behind a bumper, for example. We document it with photos, file it, and wait for approval. You are not billed for approved supplements.
Will my insurance pay for OEM parts?
Policies differ. Many pay for OEM parts on newer vehicles and "equivalent" aftermarket parts on older ones. We quote both, tell you the difference, and push for OEM where fit or safety systems depend on it.
Do you provide a rental car?
We coordinate the rental through your policy's rental coverage so it's ready at drop-off. If your policy has no rental coverage, we tell you before you're surprised at the counter.
Should I file a claim or pay out of pocket?
Rule of thumb: if the repair is close to your deductible, pay cash and keep the claim off your record. If it's well above, file. Bring the estimate to us either way and we'll walk through both numbers honestly — our prices are the same whichever you choose.
What happens if the insurer wants to total my car?
In North Carolina a car is typically declared a total loss when repair cost plus salvage value exceeds about 75% of its pre-accident value. An accurate, measured estimate is often lower than the adjuster's first number, which can keep a repairable car out of total-loss territory. If it is totaled, you can usually keep the car (owner-retained salvage) and repair it anyway; we'll tell you whether that math works.
How long does insurance approval take?
Usually 1–3 business days for the initial estimate and similar for each supplement. We send photos and, for structural work, the measurement report with the estimate so the adjuster has less to question.
